Ravinder S. Khaira, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.P.,
Board Certified

Our founding doctor and clinical director, Dr. Ravi Khaira is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Khaira attended the University of California at Davis graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences in 1990, he then attended St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his clinical cores at Yale and Cornell Medical Centers. Dr. Khaira completed his post-doctoral training in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Khaira also holds a Master’s in Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at John Hopkins University. Along with patient care Dr. Khaira is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, Public Health and the Director of the Pediatric Clerkship at the California Northstate University College of Medicine.

Dr. Khaira is a vocal advocate for children’s health issues, and can often be heard educating his patients, staff, and students throughout the halls of all our clinics. With over 24 years of clinical experience Dr. Khaira is a dynamic, caring and thoughtful provider. Choosing him along with any of our providers will prove to be one of the best decisions a parent can make in order to obtain the best possible healthcare for their children.

Dr. Khaira is an avid exercise enthusiast, enjoys the outdoors, a huge Star Wars fan and relishes spending as much free time as he can with his wife and twin daughters.

 

Howard Capon,
M.D.

Dr. Capon is an attending physician and one of the lead providers for Capital Pediatrics. He studied medicine at California Northstate University and completed residency at New York City’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine & Jacobi Medical Center. He believes in an old-school philosophy when it comes to medicine which is to listen to the patient because he or she is telling you the diagnosis. In addition to seeing patients at Capital Pediatrics, he is also an Assistant Professor at California Northstate University. Outside of work he spends time looking up at the night sky as an avid amateur astronomer, hiking with his dog, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, gardening, and traveling.

 

Celine Zehnder,
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Celine Zehnder is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor.  She received a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from the University of California, Davis in 2001.  She then received a B.S. in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University in 2003. She worked as a pediatric RN from 2003-2007, when she ultimately graduated with a M.S.  from the Advanced Practice Pediatric Nursing Program at the University of California, San Francisco.   Celine’s special interests include educating and supporting first-time parents, breast feeding and lactation support, and asthma.  She is married with two children of her own, and feels that parenting has significantly added to her understanding of pediatrics and breastfeeding.

Kamaljeet Khaira, Director of Partnerships

Kamaljeet has over 20 years of experience in management, non-profit leadership, youth engagement and health promotion. She is responsible for external relations and business partnerships for Capital Pediatrics, and provides training and support to our employees, as well. She interfaces with key stakeholders and the broader medical community throughout Northern California, on behalf of Capital Pediatrics.

Prior to her work with Capital Pediatrics, Khaira held management roles with the Public Health Institute (PHI), leading their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) – Education Programs, and prior to her work with PHI, she was with the American Heart Association (AHA), Western States Affiliate, as Senior Vice President for Youth Markets.

Her passion for working towards a healthy and more just society for young people was recognized in June, 2012, when she was named the recipient of the Ted K. Bradshaw Memorial Alumnus Award which honors a University of California, Davis alumnus who exemplifies passion, humanity, and devotion for community empowerment. She holds a bachelor degree in exercise physiology, with a minor in nutrition, and a master’s in community and regional development, both from the University of California, Davis. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughters and husband, taking long walks at McKinley Park in East Sacramento and playing volleyball.

 

Ivy Li-Garzona,
Certified Nurse Practitioner

Ivy is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development at UC Davis. She was a registered nurse for two years at a travel vaccination and consultation office, in which she has become proficient in travel medicine. Ivy received her Master’s in Nursing (specializing in family) at Samuel Merritt University in 2011. Her interests are nutrition/weight management and working collaboratively with families, providing anticipatory guidance to parents and children. She is married with one young child of her own. Ivy speaks fluent Cantonese.

 

James Delgadillo, M.D.

Dr. James Delgadillo is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Doctor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Stanford University with an area of concentration in Human Performance and Physiology. Before attending Medical school, Dr. Delgadillo received a Masters of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. He then attended and graduated Medical School at Case Western University followed by Residency in Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia- Cornell. He then returned to his hometown of Sacramento, to complete a Fellowship in Medical Education and Simulation at UC Davis Health. He currently works part- time in the Emergency Department at the Veteran’s Hospital at Mather and has volunteer clinical faculty privileges at UC Davis Health. As part of his interest in Medical Simulation, Dr. Delgadillo is on the Medical Oversight Board for SimX, a virtual reality medical simulation company.

Starting in 9th Grade, because of his interest in the medical field, Dr. Delgadillo began shadowing and learning from Dr. Khaira at Capital Pediatrics. He was inspired by Dr. Khaira’s passion, knowledge and ability to serve families well. It was this inspiration that acted as an impetus to the beginning of his journey to become a physician. He is honored and proud that he now gets to return to Capital Pediatrics, the practice where it all began! In his spare time, Dr. Delgadillo loves to go on adventures with his wife and 3 kids, watch soccer and hang out with his large Sacramento family.

 

Megan Thomas, FNP-BC

Megan Thomas is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University in 2001, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. After completing her undergraduate work, she worked as a staff nurse for over 19 years in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit in both Chicago and most recently Arizona. In addition, she worked in a Level One Trauma Pediatric Emergency Department for the past few years, while finishing her graduate degree.

She was born and raised in the Midwest and is a Hoosier at heart. She recently relocated to Northern California and is excited to share her passion for pediatrics at Roseville Pediatrics. She understands the physical and emotional needs of these young growing patients. She believes it is important to create an alliance between herself and the child’s caregivers to support every step of the child’s clinical management. She believes that building a trusting and ongoing relationship with her patients is key. She is passionate about educating new mothers and prides herself on building an inviting atmosphere for the adolescent patients she cares for.

In her spare time, she loves spending time with her two young children and husband. She loves working as a nurse practitioner and feels she can create a perfect life/work balance as an NP.

 

Mey Dominguez, Clinical Administrator

Mey Dominguez is the Clinical Administrator who oversees the operations and functions for our clinics. Mey began her externship as a Medical Assistant in our West Sacramento Pediatric Medical Clinic in 2004. Over the years, as well as being a Medical Assistant, she took on a series of administrative duties. In 2011, her position was transitioned to Clinical Administrator. She has excelled in all the clerical and administration positions in our offices over the years. She is responsible for general problem solving, overseeing staff, managing office work flow, and making sure staff provides excellent patient care and services. Mey is married and has 2 young children. She enjoys working in our clinic because of her love and passion for providing the best possible care for our patients and families.

 

Michelle
Gabrielli, FNP

Michelle Gabrielli is a family nurse practitioner with a Master’s degree in nursing from Samuel Merritt University. Prior to nursing, she was a bilingual Spanish second grade teacher in Oakland, CA. She holds a B.A. in anthropology with a minor in Spanish, and a multilingual/multicultural elementary teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento.

She has extensive clinical experience with transgender youth and teens. She has a passion for children’s health and development. Her hobbies include Lego, American Girl dolls, playing video games, watching movies and making things with her family.

 

Alexandra Harris,
PA

Ally Harris is a Certified Physician Assistant. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern.

Prior to PA school, she was a medical assistant in dermatology for two years and volunteered as a mentor for children in middle school. Ally takes a special interest in preventative care and mental health in children and teens. She is originally from Dallas, Texas and recently moved to Sacramento for her love of nature and new beginnings. In her free time, she enjoys pilates, traveling, baking, and hiking. She looks forward to providing empathetic care to the children in her new community.

 

Daniel McCrimons, M.D.

Daniel McCrimons, M.D. has a broad interest in music and science, and a strong spiritual influence throughout his childhood and adult life. After attending Harvard College and Columbia University- Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his pediatric residency at the Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and has been practicing in Sacramento since 1982. Over these 38 years as a general pediatrician and instructor to medical students, nurse practitioners, and residents, he remains conscious of an open-mindedness and enthusiasm for learning and has blended these years of clinical experience with family values, science and spirituality. He has recently published 2 historic fiction novels and the 3rd and final publication is in press.

Christine Gallo,
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Christine Gallo, CPNP is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing. Prior to nursing school, she completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at UC San Diego and worked in clinical research. Christine received her pediatric training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and has nursing experience in adolescent health. She is especially interested in dietary counseling and ear, nose, and throat concerns. In her spare time, Christine loves to spend time with her young nephews in San Francisco.

 

Jean Alarcon Gatmen,
Certified Nurse Practitioner

Jean graduated from Samuel Merritt University and received her Master’s in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to Nursing school, she received her Bachelor’s in Biology with a Chemistry Minor from the University of San Francisco. After her undergrad, she worked at a Pediatric clinic in San Francisco as a front desk receptionist. She has always had a special interest in children’s healthcare which prompted her to pursue her Master’s in Nursing. Her interests include focusing on nutrition and diabetic management. Jean enjoys exercising, playing tennis, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends.

 

Ashley Nguyen,
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Ashley Rico is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with a minor in Dramatic Arts from the University of California, Davis.  She then received a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Samuel Merritt University.

Prior to nursing school, she taught middle school science classes and directed after school educational programs. During nursing school, she worked as a school nurse. Ashley is passionate about educating, supporting, and advocating for families in their health and healthcare needs. She wants to ensure every child has the tools and information necessary to live their healthiest lives possible. She hopes that she can make a small impact in every child’s life in one way or another.

Ashley is a recent newlywed. In her spare time, she loves dancing, playing tennis, swimming, and spending time with family.

 

 

Elise Valentini,
CPNP

Elise is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from UCLA, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. Elise is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a registered nurse in adolescent health. She also has experience in dermatology and enjoys treating a variety of skin conditions within primary care. Elise takes a special interest in preventative medicine, newborn care, and asthma. She enjoys making connections with her patients and providing education to patients and parents at both well and sick visits. Elise is originally from the Sacramento area and is thrilled to be caring for kids in the area she grew up in. In her free time, Elise enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring local restaurants.

 

Christiana Schimke,
FNP

Christiana is a certified family nurse practitioner. She has a bachelor’s in science degree in biology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a Bachelor’s in nursing from Concordia University in Irvine. After nursing school, Christiana worked as a registered nurse in an oncology unit before switching specialties to labor and delivery. Her most recent job was in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital Orange County.

She earned her Master’s in Nursing from Samuel Merritt University in 2022 and is happy to be back in her hometown serving the children in the Sacramento area. She is passionate about newborn care and encouraging healthy habits in childhood that will hopefully continue into adulthood. In her spare time, Christiana enjoys hiking, playing the piano, swimming, playing board games, cheering on the LA Dodgers, and spending time with her family and friends.
